The full schedule of events for this year's Alchemy Festival

Back for it’s sixth year, Southbank Centre’s annual festival Alchemy will be showcasing a vibrant festival atmosphere with free workshops, performances, exhibitions and food. Grown to have become the largest festival of South Indian culture outside India, the 2015 festival features Bollywood singing sensation Shreya Goshal and will also display internationally-acclaimed director Yael Farber’s sell out show Nirbhaya.

With the event running for 11 days, here are some of the highlights we’ve picked to give you a peek at the festival. 



Nrityagram Dance performance – Tuesday 19th May

Banglore based group perform the enactment of sacred rituals and divine transformation through Odissi dance, one of India’s most complex dance styles. Watch it and be captivated.

Shreya Goshal Live in Concert – Saturday 23rd May

Alchemy has joined hands with Rock On Music to bring the ‘New Nightingale of India', Shreya Goshal to Royal Albert Hall to perform her hit Bollywood songs. Limited tickets will gain you exclusive backstage access, while other tickets will allow you to watch her perform live and be mesmerised.

Variety is the Spice: Music, Comedy and Dance – Monday 25th May

Go along to Queen Elizabeth Hall to see the best Asian brands, online sensations and TV stars who will showcase their different talents. Featuring performances by singer-songwriter Hussain Lahori, Britain's Got Talent runners up Signature and a music fusion by AlphaNomega, this is a show you do not want to miss.

Desi Rascals: Meet the Cast – Saturday 23rd May

Alchemy features an exclusive chat with Bend it Like Beckham’s award winning director Gurinder Chadha and cast members from her structured reality show Desi Rascals. Make sure you go to meet your favorite reality show stars from the UK’s first British Asian reality show. 

Alchemy Fashion Showcase - Friday 22nd May

Fashionistas, get ready for the interactive fashion show presented by the young producers showcasing the their latest designs. Prepare for a night of performances, catwalks and DJ sets.

Shama Rahman - Friday 22nd May

For all you music lovers, Alchemy is welcoming you to have lunch with award winning sitarist, composer and singer Shama Rahman. Chat to the fusion singer and listen to her sing about life, time and revolutions.

My Big Fat Cowpat Wedding: Performance – Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th May

Everyone loves a wedding. Alchemy invites you Claire and Arjun’s wedding; a fast moving comedy drama about the mishaps and misunderstandings based on real life mixed marriages. This performance promises lots of laughter and a disco/bhangra dance for everyone to join in at the end.

Nirbhaya: Play – Thursday 21st and Sunday 24th May

Internationally acclaimed playwright and director Yael Farber presents his dramatic performance, which breaks the silence around women who face gender-based violence. A moving production encouraged by the 2012 Delhi rape case.

Kerb Does Alchemy: Food Market – Friday 15th – Monday 25th May

With food from over 25 stalls, street food organizer KERB and their crew serve up an 11 day Easter feast. Taste food from all over South Asia, then relax and soak up the atmosphere with a glass of lassi.
