Bollywood star Lillete Dubey directs London play
Primetime Theatre Company are soon to present the UK Premiere of Boiled Beans On Toast, written by the award winning contemporary playwright, screenwriter, director and actor, Girish Karnad. The show is a sharp and witty take of Indians living in the modern world. Set in Bangalore, the story follows the lives of six people by showing an insightful portrayal of different classes living under one roof. The characters include a grandmother who discovers a passion for horse racing, a senseless maid who learns how to answer back and a bored housewife who takes on some charity work.
Boiled Beans on Toast is a brilliant contemporary comic drama that examines aspects of a growing India. The show premiered last year in India and received many rave reviews from a wide variety of high end Asian Publications.

The acclaimed actress, Lillete Dubey, set up Primetime Theatre Company in 1991. She has appeared in over 40 Bollywood and International films, the most recent being The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and directed over 28 productions. ‘I feel excited and privileged to premiere a play that will remain a mirror of our times for years to come,’ describes Lilette when speaking about her role in Boiled Beans On Toast.
The cast is filled with the best talent from Indian Stage and Screen, who of which include Joy Sengupta, Meenal Patel, Deepika Amin, Avantika Akerkar, Maneesh Verma, Swati Das, Avnish Mehra and Gillian Pinto.
The show debuts on Tuesday 10th March and runs through until Sunday 15th March at Watermans Theatre.
