As we wave goodbye to 2014, we were entertained with an array of memorable movies, but now is the time to look forward to forthcoming releases this new year. This year will feature much anticipated glamorous and action packed flicks, starring some of the biggest stars in the industry, with much awaited comebacks and the hottest couples - some never seen together before, and some classic favourites. We give you the lowdown on exciting movies to look out for - we simply cannot wait for them to hit the big screen so we can laugh, cry, cringe, dance and sing along with popcorn and samosa filled mouths...

Shamitabh - Releases February 6th
Directed by the man who made the unique stories Paa and Cheeni Kum, R Balki brings us Shamitabh, starring noneother than Amitabh Bachchan playing a superstar who lends his voice to Tamil superstar Dhanush who plays the role of a deaf and mute junior artist. What makes this movie so special is that the classic jodi of Rekha and Big B will be reunited on our screens for the first time in 33 years, since their last movie together Silsila.

Phantom - Releases April 2nd
Following the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai, this story dwells on the issue of global terrorism, featuring Katrina Kaif and Saif Ali Khan. Interestingly, we'll get to hear a rare bout of Saif speaking Kurdish!

Piku - Releases April 30th
Amitabh Bachchan will be on a roll this year, as he stars in Piku a comedy-drama where he plays the role of Deepika Padukone's father, which is resonant from the scenes of Aarakshan, where he also played her papa. Deepika will be playing the role of a Bengali for the first time, as the film is set in Kolkata.

Bombay Velvet - Releases May
There has been so much buzz around this movie, much of which was created by revealing the infamous 35kg dress that Anushka Sharma is picturised wearing. But there is alot more to the story than her lofty dress. It is set against the backdrop of 1950's Bombay, revealing how the city became a metropolis, amidst tales of glamour, greed and violence. Interestingly, she is paired up with Ranbir Kapoor and Karan Johar also stars in this indulgent script.

Dil Dhadakne Do - Releases June 4th
Director of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Zoya Akhtar brings us what seems to be a refreshing and contemporary take on a dysfunctional Punjabi family who decide to take a trip to the Mediterranean. With a hugely talented star cast featuring Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma and Farhan Akhtar, we're sure to be treated with some top quality acting and fun characters.

Bhajrangi Bhaijan - Releases July 17th
Following the success of Bodyguard, Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor appear on our screens together again in this romantic drama, focusing on the relationship between a Muslim man and a Brahmin woman. Directed by the maker of Ek Tha Tiger, we wonder if it will recount the same revered results.

Raees - Releases July 17th
Keeping up with the trend of imported Pakistani actors, Pakistani beauty Mahira Khan will star opposite Shah Rukh Khan who will play a Gujarati. Farhan Akhtar will play a cop, whilst also producing the movie.

Fan - Releases August
Directed by the fun-filled Band Baaja Baraat, Maneesh Sharma brings us Fan, and who could be more apt for the lead role than the Baadshah of Bollywood, with the biggest fan following - Shah Rukh Khan. This film explores a love story of a different kind, between fan and star - a euphoria we can all relate to! The leading lady is yet to be confirmed.

Shaandaar - Releases August
After the grand triumph of Queen, director Vikas Bahl gives us this romantic comedy about two insomniacs who fall in love amidst sleepless nights against the backdrop of an extravagant destination wedding, whilst exploring the untouched chemistry between Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor.

Jagga Jasoos - Releases August 28th
Since the massive success of Barfi, Director Anurag Basu and Ranbir Kapoor team up once again in this comedy drama. Ranbir plays a gifted detective, accompanied by leading lady and the real love of his life, Katrina Kaif.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo - Releases Diwali
Everyone anticipates a Diwali release featuring Salman Khan, and this year it seems he has gone for a more serious and intense story, rather than his usual masala-filled, light hearted flicks. In this movie featuring Sonam Kapoor who is interestingly a whopping 20 years his junior, we will see Salu bhai in his much loved avatar of cute and bashful Prem, reminiscent of Maine Pyar Kiya days.

Bajirao Mastani - Releases December 25th
This festive flick is sure to be epic, based upon the historical story of the Maratha king and his passionate liaison with a female warrior. Following the sizzling pairing of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in Ram-Leela, the two will definitely create sparks once more in this ambitious Sanjay Leela Bhansali saga, which also features Priyanka Chopra once again.

Tamasha - Releases December 25th
Another Christmas release is Tamasha, directed by celebrated Imtiaz Ali, which can be defined as a modern romance set in Corsica, Italy. He once again teams up with Rockstar Ranbir Kapoor as a global nomad and Love Aaj Kal actress Deepika Padukone - a favourite and popular hero-heroine duo the audience loves to see, despite the fact that their real life romance did not quite work out!

Jazba - Release date TBC
Ash fans have been eagerly awaiting the beauty queen's comeback, after being offscreen and busy with her motherly duties for the past five years. Last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish, Aishwarya Rai makes her grand revival in Jazba, a contemporary thriller working alongside renowned actors Shabana Azmi and Irfan Khan. It will be interesting to see Ash and John Abraham as a couple for the first time!

Wazir - Release date TBC
Another Amitabh Bachchan movie?! He is certainly putting his son Abhishek to shame, with his hat-trick of big movie releases this year. We will see Big B in yet another intriguing character, demonstrating his superb acting skills as always, as he will portray a paralyzed chess maestro, alongside Farhan Akhtar. The two have never been seen on screen together before, in what has been described as an intense drama.
