Rifco have announced the reappearance of their popular production The Deranged Marriage, in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Showing at Watford Palace Theatre from the end of April, the hit show will rebound in flamboyancy, with a new cast and revamped script to make it more relevant to current times. The comedy-drama revolves around the classical Asian storyline of arranged marriages, by exploring the delicate liaison between traditions and modern-day progressive opinions. This is what makes the story of Sona and Rishi so relatable for the audience, as second and third generation Asians who already have or will go through the inevitable dilemma in their lives - when they will have to choose between making their parents happy or go against the grain and choose not to conform to the ideals of their elders and society.

The tour sold out ten years ago, which is why it is returning to entertain eager audiences once again - this time, to journey through the emotional, chaotic, hilarious and moving roller coaster ride of planning Sona and Rishi's wedding. Written and directed by Rifco's Artistic Director Pravesh Kumar, he reveals: 'It's not often you get to revisit one of your biggest hits. A lot has changed in the last ten years. We have grown as a company and our audience has also grown. It’s very exciting to be presenting a new version of The Deranged Marriage to previous and new audiences. As well as a new script, cast and design, the show will feature creative digital elements to aid the storytelling'.

With an impressive crew, including the likes of Bollywood personality Andy Kumar designing the costumes and choreographing the show, along with a talented array of cast members including Clara Indrani, Ravin J Ganatra, Balvinder Sopal, Sheena Patel and Stephen Lloyd, all of whom have previously worked in renowned theatre productions, such as Bombay Dreams, Happy Birthday Sunita and Britain's Got Bhangra, the highly anticipated show is sure to live up to its former glorified expectations. See if you spot a copy of our mag on stage, as it will be making a cameo appearance as a theatre debutante!
