A new stage version of hit film East is East is about to embark on a three-week tour following it's successful stint in London. The show will preview at Birmingham’s New Alexandra Theatre from the 12th – 17th January, followed by shows at the Richmond Theatre from the 19th – 25th January before finishing at the Opera House in Manchester from the 26th – 31st January.

The original 1999 film of the play is about George Khan, his English wife and their large litter of kids all of who are packed into a terraced house in Salford during the 1970s. The film was an almighty success and became a classic in exploring the clash of beliefs in a multi-cultural family.

The play is written by and stars award winning playwright and actor Ayub Khan Din as George, alongside screen icon Jane Horrocks as Ella. It is loosely based on Khan Din’s own upbringing and somehow manages to be both enjoyable and emotional at the same time. The poignant wrath of Khan keeps the audience in stitches and ties it all together perfectly; definitely a must see!
