Escape the heat with these cool film screenings

The capital is well and truly melting at the minute. If you're looking to escape to the shade then a cinema is your best bet. Over the next 12 days Londoners can enjoy some of the best in indie cinema of the moment, at the East End Film Festival, including 20 UK premieres, 16 London premieres and 18 world premieres...if you're a film fan clearly you need to go East. Highlights include the opening night gala screening of One Crazy Love (directed by Amit Gupta) which stars ex-Eastenders actor Ray Panthaki (we don't know where he's been but we're glad he is back!), documentary Udita, about the Rana Plaza factory disaster in Bangladesh and Amy (directed by Asif Kapadia), the highly anticipated documentary about Amy Winehouse.
