Soak up the great British festival spirit at Galtres Parkland
The summer festival season has become an integral part of British culture and as staycations continue to rise, booking tickets to one is a good excuse to discover a new part of the country. These days there are festivals everywhere - not just the major ones which suffer from overcrowding, but intimate gatherings in scenic locations suitable for the whole family. Galtres Parklands in Yorkshire is one of them. Now in it's 10th year the festival promotes original live music, dance and performance but retains a local feel. As well as encouraging participation from community groups and children, the festival promotes local food and drinks suppliers and maintains a strict environmental policy and strong charity ethos. It's no wonder than with such a positive message that the festival has attracted some big name headliners this year including Tricky and Morcheeba on Saturday night and The Human League on Sunday.
Falling over August Bank Holiday weekend it's a perfect excuse to get together with friends or family and enjoy a taste of the great British outdoors. Taking place at Duncombe Park, Helmsley, North Yorkshire, the scenery is so stunning it was made for camping (or glamping if you prefer), though if you're not cut out for sleeping outdoors, you can head back into York for the night and return in the morning, where apart of the music, there's so much more on offer. Activities include a fairground, birds of prey display and silent disco as well as Bollywood inspired arts and crafts fun for the kids.
