Jameela Jamil Follows Her Dreams

Why we love the sultry and stunning Ms Jam Jam

Posted: 19.12.14

Jameela Jamil revealed this week that she will no longer be hosting Radio 1's Official Chart Show, which she has done for the past two years. Although she will remain affiliated with Radio 1, she has opted for a more flexible path of pursuing her career, which will allow her to travel and work abroad. She says, broadening her horizons is something that she has always had the desire to do but the wonderful opportunities that came about in her life meant she had to delay her bucket list. It was a recent cancer scare that prompted her to take the plunge and to follow her heart.

Amongst the many reasons why we feel Jameela is a defined personality, not only was she the first solo female presenter on Radio 1, but she is also a positive representative of British Asian women in the mainstream media. She is known to use her popularity to raise awareness of issues in society such as promoting body confidence, as well as supporting anti bullying campaigns - all areas which are personal feats for her, since she suffered from low esteem and was bullied at school.

Her unapologetic blog in which she expresses her bold opinions and thoughts is refreshing and amusing all at the same time, whilst her vivacious hilarity is even reflected amidst her charity efforts - who can forget when she donned a chicken costume in an attempt to repel men and proudly announced she would be 'giving up sex for a month' for Comic Relief last year!

However, the chicken costume stint was thankfully a one-off, as the fashionista frequently sets trends with her quirky boho look which is so well-loved that she designed her own clothing line Jam, with a popular online outlet. We adore her vivacious flair, which is apparent in her creations, encouraging women to be 'daring' and 'get noticed', whilst reaching out to ladies of all shapes and sizes. We wish Jameela well in her forthcoming endeavours and hope she continues to empower women and girls wherever she goes!
