She is an inspiration, not just for a generation of young women - but men and women all over world. Malala Yousafzai is known the globe over as the young girl who was shot by the Taliban for going to school, and encouraging other girls to do so, but her story is one that is even more epic than her depiction in the news. He Named Me Malala is the first official documentary about her life, touching on her childhood, family background, growing up, getting shot, moving to the UK and going on to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Based on her biography is portrays her as bold, bright and inspiring individual.

In the film, acclaimed documentary filmmaker David Guggenheim shows us how Malala, her father Zia and her family are committed to fighting for education for all girls worldwide. The film gives us an inside glimpse into this extraordinary young girl’s life (she was 15 when she was shot and will soon be 18), from her close relationship with her father who inspired her love for education, to her impassioned speeches at the UN and her everyday life with her parents and brothers.  

He Named Me Malala is a film that will inspire and touch all who see it - released in UK cinemas on 6th November.
