Mumzy & Rishi reunite for the singer's first release in two years
The last time the r ‘n’ b scene was graced by Mumzy Stranger’s vocal talents was two years ago, when he released the hit Heartbreaker during the summer. Since then, the award winning artist has been spending his time developing his own Stranger Family, signing up established acts like Junai Kaden, Tasha Tah, Char Avell and Ramee.
Breaking onto the scene with the critically acclaimed Fly With Me in 2010, followed by his award winning album Journey Begins, Mumzy Stranger has gone back to his roots and joined forces once again with producer Rishi Rich for his track Runaway under the
Tiffin Beats Records label.
Returning to the soulful inspiration that so heavily influenced his early music, and that first caught the attention of Rishi, Runway is a true testament to Mumzy’s incredible vocal ability.
The passion behind this song shines through in the lyrics, Mumzy explains: ‘It’s a situation that everyone has been or goes through where a couple just wants to run away from their problems, but it’s not as easy as that. We decided to write about how you wish you could just go back to yesterday and change everything and runaway, but now you’re regretting everything because the love of your life is gone.’
Mumzy’s last collaboration with Rishi Rich led to him receiving several illustrious awards, including the UK AMA Best Urban Act in 2011 and 2010 BritAsia Best Urban Asian Act. And once again, these two industry megastars are enjoying their time together. Mumzy explained: ‘Rishi produced an amazing piece of musical production and brought the track to life – we settled for an acoustic vibe giving it a mellow and mesmerising feel.’
Released on Valentine’s Day February 14th, Runaway is the perfect complement to a day of romance so be sure to download it for the one you love. The first of three new singles taken from his forthcoming album, if this track is anything to go by, it could end up being the album of the year. We can’t wait to hear what’s next!
Runaway is out on iTunes on 14 Feb, 2013.
