Saif to play Bollywood’s first zombie hunter
When we interviewed Saif Ali Khan last year while he was promoting Race 2, we were shocked to see his mop of blonde hair…but things have all become clear! It wasn’t him (or new wife Kareena instructing him how to style himself), the yellow locks were in fact for his new role, playing Boris, a Russian Mafia Lord for new movie Go Goa Gone. But before you try and second guess the plot, we should tell you, this isn’t your typical mafia crime thriller…oh no. It’s a Zombie flick and Boris is set to be India’s first zombie hunter.
Go Goa Gone is party comedy, horror-thriller and action adventure and with its unique combination of fear and laughter this movie is one of a kind.
Saif’s character Boris is unlike any you’ve seen him play before, he has blonde hair and tattoos for a start! Explaining what drew him to Boris, Saif said: ‘I loved Boris from the first time I discovered him. He is tough and cool, but also very funny. He has a good heart and is brave. The dynamics between him and the boys is hysterical. I was very excited to play Boris the zombie hunter and even happier to produce this film.’
Zom-com Go Goa Gone is directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK who are both self-confessed zombie fans. It is based around three guys, a young girl and Boris who holds an exclusive underground rave party that takes place on a remote island. When we say exclusive…it’s actually the launch party for ‘the ultimate party drug.’ However something is not right and that is where things start to take a twist within the film. It’s gripping stuff.
Producer, Dinesh Vijan, Illuminati Films said, ‘The zombies will keep you on the edge of your seat and the humor will make you fall off it - making it a zombie comedy… a ZOM-COM! Hopefully it'll be a genre defining film for us.’
He could be right as Go Goa Gone is not the only zombie film coming out of Bollywood this year.
There’s also one called Rise of the Zombies on the film horizon.
Go Goa Gone is set to release on May 10th 2013.
