BMW India Bridal Fashion Week

Finest Indian designers showcase their wares at exclusive celebration of bridal wear

Posted: 11.08.15

Indian summers also equate to fashion weeks galore, and the latest one is BMW India Bridal Fashion Week, which is proving to be an extravagant one, opening with a decadent collection designed by celeb’s favourite Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. Their rich, bright and colourful designs entitled Varanasi, was in every way reflective of this ancient, mystical city. To further personify this aura, the couturiers used Benarasi weaves for their striking lengha ensembles. None other than the reigning princess of glitz and glamour, Sonam Kapoor opened and closed the show, beginning with a sumptuous gilt contemporary gown, whilst finishing with a heavily laden with gold, vermillion red lengha, in what was perhaps one of the most traditional visages Sonam has ever carried off, especially with the dupatta draped on her head, swooping all the way behind her - she looked like a classical desi princess.

Another B-town favourite, Tarun Tahiliani presented his collection, embodying the theme of ancient culture, blending it with modern day finesse, with the ultimate sultry glamour queen Lisa Haydon as the sensational showstopper, wearing a lustrous gold fitted lengha with a cropped top.

On the third day, Jyotsna Tiwari’s catwalk was fresh, pretty and personified summer, with pastel hues of pinks and mint greens, with contemporary elegant gowns, along with some delicate lenghas.
