How Aara’s Baby Food is bringing a world of flavour to little ones

Posted: 14.07.15

Being a mum is hectic enough as it is without worrying about whether what you’re feeding your bundle of joy is good for them. While you may have dreamt about making all your baby food from scratch, it’s not always practical. Thankfully help is now at hand from one mum who is changing baby food in Britain. Aara’s Baby Foods was started by mum Alia Arain, who was concerned about what she was feeding her two-year-old daughter Aara. So she recreated family recipes for all her mealtimes, ensuring they were delicious and nutritious, as she explains: ‘If you don’t like it, don’t expect them to.’

Encouraged by friends whose children also loved Alia’s meals, she turned her homecooking into a business, producing organic, halal baby food with global flavours. Aara’s ethos is based on finding locally sourced ingredients to allow small businesses to thrive, and where possible they are made to fair trade standards.

Each food pouch is 100% recyclable and the company focuses on animal welfare. Aara’s also give a percentage of their profits to two charities: the King’s College Conception Unit, which is fundamental in the early years of fertility treatment, and the United Ummah Orphanage in Uganda, which focuses on food, safety and education for orphans, so not only are you feeding your baby great food, you’re doing good too.

There is a wide selection of flavours available, ranging from British classics like Shepherd’s Pie and Apple Crumble to global dishes like Chilli Con Carne (Mexico), Lasagne (Italy) and Saag Chicken (India). There is also a yummy new selection coming soon, including a Vegetable Medley, Matoke Chicken (Africa) and Banana Bread and Custard (USA). Alia says: It is really important to ensure that everything we give our children is wholesome to help set them up for the future.’ We couldn't agree more.

Aara’s Baby Food can be purchased online at
Pouches from £1.59 or 12 for £19.99.
