Aarti P wins Make-up Artist of the year 2017

Aarti’s brand and talent was recognised and lauded on 6th March 2017 at the inaugural British Asian Wedding Awards 2017 at the prestigious London Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, where she was honoured with the title Make-up Artist of the Year in the South region. She also went on to win the exalted award for overall Make-up Artist of the Year, chosen amongst 80 other artists in the category.

She is popular amongst her peers within the Asian wedding industry, making her regularly recommended by other wedding service suppliers. As well as her personality, her signature style also makes her services so appealing. Aarti likes to start off with a natural and comfortable base before the make-up application, which is key to a bride still looking like herself on her wedding day – something that is much appreciated by her professional brides in particular, who are not used to wearing heavy make-up. Pair this with her impressive portfolio of looks and clientele, there is no wonder why brides from all over the world have booked Aarti for their Big Day, including Europe, Asia and as far afield as America.

Her genuine enthusiasm for beauty draws her to stay in tune with the latest trends and products.She also demonstrates her innovative versatility when adapting her skills and requirements in various settings – whether that’s for a bride on her wedding day, a celebrity shoot or a model at a fashion studio.

Aarti’s vast portfolio of work includes being regularly featured in the prestigious Asiana Wedding Magazine, as well as being interviewed on B4U Television, allowing her work and story to inspire other aspiring beauty enthusiasts and artists. Her artistry services are also in demand within the Asian media, with popular personalities from Zee TV and BBC Asian Network, regularly booking her for red carpet and high profile events, gaining her a markedly gracious reputation within the beauty industry. She recently added Celebrity Chef Dipna Anand to her array of high profile clientele, becoming her official Make-up Artist for her show aired on B4U. Aarti was also chosen by Bollywood Professional, a global make-up brand based in Malaysia, to be their official make-up artist for their UK launch.

Her calm and amiable demeanour is favorable in a working environment that can be fast paced and busy, as well as working wonders with nervous brides – a part of her job that Aarti adores. She loves getting to know her clients and quickly becomes their confidante and friend, making them feel at ease and comfortable, surrendering to Aarti’s expertly capable hands.

Along her journey of mastering the art of make-up, Aarti’s effortless air for creativity, her attention to detail and perfectionism allows her to conjure up bespoke looks according to her client’s individual needs, based on the occasion and their features, to ensure she enhances their natural beauty, whilst also eloquently complementing their ensemble.

As a teenager, Aarti’s love affair with make-up began, when she purchased her first lipstick. During those years, adorning herself with make-up gave her a much-needed confidence boost whilst she struggled with low self-esteem and being overweight. When she started wearing make-up, it gave her encouragement to feel more comfortable in her own skin. However, even after losing weight in her uni years, Aarti’s passion for make-up artistry only increased and developed with her. She learnt, practiced and honed her expertise to perfection at the exclusive London School of Beauty and Make-up, accredited by the International Make-up Association.

Although Aarti was born and raised in UK, her lifelong interest in Bollywood’s glitz and glamour also deeply influences her beauty perspective and decisions, as the world of beauty is so inspired by the allure of Bollywood actresses and most clients aspire to look like them, hence why she follows them closely so as not to disappoint her Bollywood-loving brides. Her knowledge is so vast, that she even won Sanjeev Bhaskar’s quiz show Bollywood Or Bust on the BBC at the age of 15.

But it’s not just Bollywood that inspires Aarti and her brides alike. For one of her beauty campaigns, as featured in the Asiana Wedding Magazine, Aarti took inspiration from fairytales, depicting a different ‘princess story’ in each of her shots, since she loves playing a part in making her brides’ fairytales come true. Aarti’s most recent beauty campaign is modeled on real brides who she has actually worked with, so she has glammed them up from their big day, to a magazine photo shoot, instead of using models. She feels a real bride is much more vivid and relatable to her brides. Aarti consistently strives to stand apart and do something different, so both concepts of fairytales and real brides were a remarkable first in the beauty industry. Taking her creativity a step further, Aarti has also done shoots involving an extravagant and glamorous edge, involving jet planes and animals.

Before becoming a professional make-up artist, Aarti graduated in Marketing at a London university, leading her into a booming career in Events and Sponsorship at British Airways Head Office, where she boasted high profile clientele including Richard E Grant, Denise Lewis OBE, Heston Blumenthal, Tracey Amin, Fearne Cotton to name a few. During her time at BA, she indulged in the glamorous high life, whilst spearheading notable sponsorships with BAFTA, X Factor, The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Her love for Bollywood even followed her here, as she developed and delivered the British Airways Silent Picturehouse event in Mumbai marking the Indian film industry’s 100th anniversary, which garnered support and attendance of Bollywood’s glitterati, including director Karan Johar, Arjun Rampal, Malaika Arora Khan and Arjun Kapoor.

Being business savvy and understanding the significance of marketing proved extremely useful for Aarti when she became a make-up artist, which has enabled her to create brand awareness using tailored campaigns to target her audiences successfully.
