Teen Talent’s New Deal

He made his debut when he was just 17, batting for Loughborough and became the youngest player in Leicester to score a century. Further success followed a few months later when Shiv Thakor won Young Sports Personality at the 10th annual British Asian Sports Personality Awards last year and his good news didn’t stop there.

Now 18, Shiv has signed a two year deal to play for his local cricket team. The Leicestershire Foxes County Cricket Club. Shiv played for the side on a summer contract in between studying forhis A’level, but he’s now got his grades, and made the grade to get into the squad as a professional member.
Since playing for the side, in just 10 championship innings, Thakor has managed to gain four half centuries, helped him gain 427 runs overall. He also managed to achieve 85 runs not out against Hampshire adding to his tally of outstanding performances for the club.
In addition to his impressive batting performances, Shiv is developing his skills as a bowler and has proved himself in several one-day games.
His performance against Lancashire Lightning in the CB40 (Clydesdale Bank 40) Competition, was one of the highlights of the competition, with Shiv racking up 83 runs not out. Next season he’s hoping to placed higher up the battering order, giving him the experience he needs to be spotted in the future to hopefully play for England.
