THE ROOMS AND SUITES

Starting up in the clouds on level 34 – 125 metres high – Shangri La The Shard occupies 18 floors inside the Renzo Piano-designed skyscraper – the UK’s tallest building. The hotel is the Hong Kong based Shangri-La’s first UK outpost, offering exquisite and spacious rooms with jaw-dropping views.

All 202 rooms are spacious and serene with a sleek and sophisticated décor complete with floor to ceiling windows, which make you feel connected to the city. There are 17 suites to pick from, including the London Suite – the place to book for serious wow-factor. The second largest suite in the hotel, can be found on level 38. Luxurious in every way, the expansive one-bedroom suite features mood-lighting, a walk-in dressing area, huge living and dining room, kitchenette, a spacious marble clad bathroom – complete with a rain shower, separate tub overlooking Tower Bridge and The Tower of London, Acqua Di Parma toiletries and an integrated television screen in the mirror. You’re guaranteed a good sleep in the comfy beds with body-contouring technology, 1,000-threadcount Frette linen and a lavish pillow menu to pick from.

Telescopes for admiring the views and fascinating books on London architectural history are thoughtful additions.  London Suite guests also get exclusive privileges including a one-way private airport transfer – ideal for those jetting off on a honeymoon plus a bottle of Champagne on arrival. There’s also a Butler service available upon request.

FACILITIES
This is a hotel where you will want to enjoy the room rather than explore your surroundings.

If you do venture out, whizz up to the 52nd-floor, where you will find the calming Skypool and Finnish sauna boasting stunning views of London’s iconic landmarks. There is also a lounge area and complimentary teas and fruit to snack on. This floor is also home to Gong, the highest hotel bar in Europe. While there’s no spa on site, you can book a Neal’s Yard massage in the comfort of your room.

For your evening meal, head to Ting, which offers European fine-dining with an Asian twist. Dishes are put together using plenty of ingredients sourced from the neighbouring Borough Market. We recommend the delicious Miso Cod and Malaysian-style Fried Rice. There’s also a plant-based menu. If you prefer a more intimate meal, book Dining in the Sky – this romantic private dining experience includes a three-course meal, champagne, wine and wonderful views.
