When you look back at defining moments in British-Asian fashion, one name stands out: Asif Malik, founder and designer of Sache Boutique. For 25 years, his Birmingham-based label Sache by Asif has been the go-to destination for brides and grooms seeking timeless elegance and bespoke design.
This milestone year sees Asif unveil something truly special – a new private bridal shopping experience, an opulent space designed to offer every bride the luxury, privacy, and personal attention she deserves.
“It’s been an honour to be part of so many families’ celebrations over the years,” says Asif. “This new space is my way of giving something back – a place where every bride can feel special, relaxed, and truly seen.”
From Pakistan to Italy to Birmingham
Asif’s story is as inspiring as his designs. Born in Pakistan, he left home as a student to study in Italy – the epicentre of global fashion.
“I spent over a decade working in Bologna with designers like David Fontana,” he recalls. “From sketching to stitching, I learned every part of the process – experience that still shapes my work today.”
Combining European tailoring with the rich artistry of South Asian embroidery, Asif created a style that bridges cultures with sophistication.
In 2001, he brought this vision to life by opening Sache Boutique on Birmingham’s Alum Rock Road. What began as a small atelier has since evolved into a multi-floor fashion house – complete with an expansive bridal collection, a dedicated Groom’s Gallery, and now, a luxurious private bridal floor.
The Private Bridal Experience
The new suite, available by appointment, offers brides a one-to-one consultation with Asif and his expert team. Inside, plush seating, flattering lighting, and full-length mirrors create a setting worthy of couture. Brides can explore outfits for every event – from traditional ceremonies to glamorous receptions – all within one exclusive space.
“My clients told me they wanted to try on clothes without interruptions, to feel like the centre of attention,” says Asif. “Now they can – it’s a celebrity-style experience designed entirely around them.”
The woman-only environment ensures complete comfort and privacy, especially for hijab-wearing brides, while friends and family are welcome to join in the fittings, making it a joyful, shared moment.
