Brush Strokes Of Love
Bridal beauty with romance from Make-Up by Shaz, the leading MUA behind The Canvas
“Every bride is a canvas, one that’s already perfect, but just needs some tender loving enhancements so that she can shine at her brightest on the biggest day of her life – her wedding day.”
Make Up by Shaz, the MUA behind The Canvas has been beautifying brides for 13 years. Her signature style captures the natural beauty of her clients, while turning up the glamour, as she explains: “my signature look is to create soft, buttery skin – the type of blemish-free skin we see on social media filters, but without the technology – this is real skin. As an artist, I’ve perfected the skill of how to make brides look flawless.”
Perfect skin paired with carefully carved eyeshadow and a subtle contour and blush ensures that every bride feels timeless with the ‘Shaz’ glow. A moment that will be captured forever in all your wedding photos.
Radiating romance
While the allure of DIY make-up can seem tempting, your wedding day is not the time to do your own make-up. Entrusting your bridal look to a skilled professional like Make Up by Shaz will give you the confidence boost you need, empowering you to feel a queen on your Big Day. Shaz says “I’ve been a bridal make-up artist for 13 years alongside being an accountant. Combining my creative and corporate skills has allowed me to develop a career with transferable skills. It’s an honour visiting and travelling across the UK to make my bride’s beauty dreams come true, knowing I’m giving them a professional experience.”
Passion and perfection are what make Shaz stand out in the industry. The quality of her make-up speaks for itself, so it’s no surprise that alongside brides she also does make-up for catwalks, editorial and fashion shoots.
When you speak to Shaz, you feel her positive enthusiasm and you know you’re in the right hands: “I love making brides feel a million dollars on their Big Day while still feeling like themselves. There is so much more to being an MUA than beautifying the bride. I also love being part of the family as I can chip in and help wherever I can. One fond memory I have is when the bride’s mum’s zip broke 45 minutes before they were due to leave. Luckily, I had my sewing kit and once she put the dress on, I stitched it up for her – which left her in tears! We are heroes as well as bride fairies. It’s priceless seeing the mothers, fathers, siblings and friend’s reactions on the Big Day. I just want to hug and cry with them all – what special moments to be a part of.”
Bridal consultations
All brides are invited to have a consultation with Shaz before committing where you can share and discuss ideas. Shaz explains: “The first thing I ask my brides is what sort of look are they thinking of so I can hear her feelings before I suggest my own. We also go through any allergies and sensitivities as well as any concerns and worries she may have. My goal is to alleviate them and focus instead on the joys ahead.”
Trials can be done eight weeks before your wedding but Shaz recommends four to six weeks. Your skin will be in a more accurate condition then and she can recommend any last minute tips and advice so you’re looking your best on your Big Day. She’s also available for bridal parties including family members and bridesmaids.

Bridal beauty forecast: future make-up trends every bride needs to know
Make Up by Shaz recommends five radiant looks perfect for wearing down the aisle in 2024/25
1. Ethereal Glow: Channelling an otherworldly radiance, the ethereal glow trend focuses on luminous, dewy skin paired with soft, shimmering accents, an elevation of the flawless, smooth buttery skin I’m known for. Think iridescent highlighters, sheer blushes, and strategically placed illuminators to create a celestial aura that captivates under any lighting.
2. Graphic Liner: Eyes with definition are a staple part of Asian bridal make-up, but it’s not only the lashes that create the drama. Making a bold statement with precision and flair, graphic liner takes centre stage in 2024 and into Spring 2025. From sleek cat eyes to intricate geometric designs, experiment with sharp lines and daring shapes to add a modern edge to your bridal look.
3. Statement Brows: Frame your face with confidence and character by embracing the statement brow trend. Whether bold and bushy like ‘90s Kajol, or perfectly sculpted, accentuate your brows with precision grooming, subtle shading, and natural-looking definition to add structure and expressiveness.
4. Berry-stained Lips: Bright reds are too strong on their own, opt instead for a darker berry hue. A shade that will be big in the Autumn. Opt for deep reds, plums, and berries in matte or glossy finishes to create a striking yet romantic pout that complements any bridal style.
5. Blush draping: Blurring the lines between contouring and traditional blush application, blush draping is set to make waves in 2024 bridal beauty and beyond. This technique involves sweeping blush across the cheeks and temples in a sculptural manner, creating a soft, diffused colour that contours and lifts the face. Whether you choose romantic pinks, peachy corals, or bold berry tones, blush draping adds a touch of artistic flair and youthful freshness to your bridal make-up, ensuring your cheeks are kissed with a natural, lit-from-within glow that lasts from “I do” to the last dance.
