Have a ‘Grand Wedding’ at the award-winning Grand Station

Winner of the Asian Wedding Venue of the Year 2023 at the British Asian Wedding Awards and stars of the BBC TV show The Hidden World of Hospitality, Grand Station are one of the most respected and in-demand wedding venues in the West Midlands.

The venue lowdown

A former train station, built in 1854 and located on Sun Street in the city centre, Grand Station recently celebrated a decade as an events space with a reputation for hosting the most lavish weddings Wolverhampton has ever witnessed.

There are two luxury venue spaces within the venue that couples can choose from, The Brunel Suite for smaller functions of up to 150 guests and the Grand Hall for up to 750 guests, ideal for dinner, drinks and dancing.

Asian celebrations are second nature here and they offer packages for Hindu, Muslim and Asian weddings. The team are experienced in understanding the needs of each community. Whether couples come with ideas, perhaps a trend they’ve seen on social media, or are looking for guidance, the in-house wedding experts will ensure all the finer details are taken care of with personal touches along the way.

Grand Station’s story caught the attention of television producers and last year the extraordinary venue featured in a documentary series presented by Michelin star chef Tom Kerridge who went behind-the-scenes to uncover the secret to their success.

He discovered that credit lies with the team and their Director of Sales and Development, Danny Thompson who you may have seen on the show. He enthuses: “Grand Station is one of busiest venues in the Midlands hosting over 350 events a year, with up to 1,000 guests per event. Our priority is that every couple gets the same five-star level of attention. We assign them an Event Coordinator and Décor Consultant who advise with the planning process, ensuring every couple gets their dream day.”

On the show, which is available to watch on BBC iPlayer, viewers are also introduced to Manni Mander who manages some of the venue’s major Asian weddings. One of the highlights is seeing her meet a couple and oversee their dream day come to life.

But it’s not just weddings that take place at this now-famous venue. The team has hosted parties and dinners for corporate clients like Amazon, eBay, Sky Sports and the NHS and as you will have seen on the show, they also host themed Christmas parties which sell out to 500 guests a day.

Grand Station has also been selected as the first venue in Wolverhampton to host the  Miss England Finals featuring the current Miss Asiana Gagan Pabla who is in the running for the prestigious title for 2024. Forty women from across England will meet for the final catwalk and compete for the coveted title and a place in the 72nd Miss World.

Leading up to the two-day event, the finalists will be taking part in a series of qualifying rounds including posting make-up free images of themselves on social media, creating a TikTok video to showcase their talent and sourcing a 1940s-themed travel outfit for the show’s opening scene at the former train station.
