Venue Focus: Hylands Estate
A luxurious manor house and grand estate steeped in elegance and charm, creating a dreamy backdrop to celebrate the happiest day of your life
With its elegant white neo-classical façade, lavish interiors, and panoramic parkland views, Hylands Estate is one of the most desirable wedding locations in the East of England. From its sweeping Grand Staircase, exuberant Banqueting Room, and ornately gilded Drawing Room, to its picture-perfect formal Victorian gardens; this is a wedding venue that oozes romance. The Hylands Estate is home to the Grade II* listed mansion house and depending on your number of guests there are three different spaces for your nuptials. The Banqueting Room and Drawing Room are ideal for intimate celebrations inside the House. The Grand Pavilion in the estate grounds is a purpose built space suitable for larger gatherings of up to 300 guests and is a space you can personalise as much as you desire, keep it elegant and minimal or add colour and creativity with themes and props. Meanwhile the front lawn and driveway are perfect for a Baraat arrival with dhol drums leading your guests into the House or Pavilion and provides a special place in which to take your vows.
New for 2022: Outdoor ceremonies
The garden at Hylands Estate has long offered a fairytale setting for wedding portraiture photography and a pretty spot for alfresco reception drinks but until now it’s not been possible to marry in the gardens. This spring a new outdoor wedding ceremony space is being constructed within the garden’s woods under a graceful canopy of trees, creating an intimate and magical place to say ‘I Do’. The area will be able to accommodate up to 100 guests, with trees providing natural cover when needed.
A bespoke oak structure for couples and purpose-built seating in keeping with the woodland theme will be installed, and a discreet outdoor sound system will ensure guests will hear every moment of the ceremony in perfect clarity. Once vows have been exchanged, guests can enjoy a drinks reception on the back lawn or within the house. Offering the best of both worlds; it’s secluded enough to give you a real feeling of being in a forest, but close to the many amenities of Hylands House, making it the perfect setting for anyone who’d love a woodland wedding and can then easily switch to the grandeur of being in a manor house for the evening reception.
Special feature: Wedding Suite
Getting married at Hylands Estate is a VIP experience thanks to their exquisite new wedding suite. Based on the first floor of the House, this is your sanctuary where you can get ready, catch your breath, and even take a shower. The interior décor of the suite is sublime. All the rooms have an ornate horticultural theme linking to the estate’s gardens. The Wisteria Room is decorated with beautiful hand-painted images of the cascading purple flowers you’ll see in the estate’s Pleasure Gardens, while a gorgeous adjacent room takes its lead from the classic rose garden.
The suite provides a luxurious chamber for you to enjoy with your bridal party. It’s so special that brides have been known to shed a tear because they’ve fallen in love with it so much. And while you’re getting into the celebratory spirit you can leave your service providers and the professional wedding planning team at Hylands Estate to get to work on the finishing touches to ensure your day is the most wonderful it can be, in the most special of surroundings.
